Brookdale Community College Library

Project Description:

This new library offers technological innovations needed for contemporary times. The library now provides an infrastructure that allows users access to any information resource (Internet, e-mail, database, periodical indices, documents and more). With remote access, registered users may use real-time Library services or resources from their home or business, another library, or Brookdale extension site.

The Information Commons on the lower level combines the traditional reference room with an open computer lab. With a capacity of 114 networked computers, students have access to applications for library research, e-mail, document processing, and other functions.

In the Collections Area on the upper level is a gallery for 100,000 volumes, 600 periodicals, and a microfilm collection of 100 magazines and newspapers. Students can choose from a variety of study spaces, including 19 study rooms for groups of 6-12 students, 120 individual study carrels, and 44-tables seating 2 to 4 students each.
