MSSD Residential Hall Dormitory, Gallaudet University – 800 Florida Avenue NE, Washington, DC
One of the oldest private federally chartered universities in the country, Gallaudet University was founded in 1864 for the education of the
deaf and hard of hearing, although originally it was a grammar school for both deaf and blind children. It is the first school for the advanced
education of the deaf and hard of hearing in the world and remains today the only higher education institution in which all programs and
services are specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students. It is officially bilingual with American Sign Language
and written English used for instruction and by the college community. Rinaldi’s background in public works projects, K-12 public schools
and private colleges and universities together with the firm’s experience in residential and commercial construction served the University
well after the original contractor was replaced and Rinaldi was procured by Socotec, a global leader of technical experts and advisors in
testing, inspection and certification across a wide range of industry sectors including construction and infrastructure spanning 26-countries
and 5- continents. Socotec is often brought in my owners, developers, lenders and/or sureties and insurance companies on their distressed
      assets and properties.

After this new ground-up residential college dormitory was built by others, failures began everywhere from the new concrete slab-on-grade
literally lifting and causing interior drywall partitions and walls to buckle between the decks to complete building envelope deterioration and

much of the interior finishes had to be taken down to the bare structure and completely reconstructed new. Size 2-Building Structures 3-Stories

oysters with bankers, politicians, stockbrokers, lawyers and socialites. Amenities including a signature ground-floor level restaurant
